"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."

- James 2:14-17

Christianity is more. More than what? Well, more than we ever imagined.

In contemporary America, Christianity and social justice have become seemingly opposite concepts. This is an unfortunate outcome of a highly politicized and polarized world. In actuality, social justice lies at the heart of Christianity, and perhaps cannot even be separated from it. Christianity is not democratic, republican, liberal, or conservative; it follows no ideology. It is not limited to the rich or the poor, to any particular race, gender, or ethnicity, and certainly not to location.

The fact is- the only ideology that Christianity can be attached to is Christianity itself. Christianity is unique and loving. And so is the real social justice. I specify the “real” social justice because this term has become loaded. “Real” social justice is not political, not divisive--it is what God has put inside each and every one of us that we choose to accept or deny. Human beings load these terms and make them polarizing.

If we want a better world we need to rise above the divisiveness that surrounds these words; we need to begin to unpack the words and rise above our differences. We need to investigate every possible method towards building bridges, so that we can have different thoughts, ideologies, methods, even denominations, yet come together towards something bigger. I am hoping that we discover bridges that enable us to discuss our differences that we rise above them in order to work together, that people will agree to disagree and still love each other.

Idealistic? Yes. Impossible? Maybe. All I know is that I hope this web-site and blog can play a part of rebuilding the many bridges that I have seen torn down in my lifetime. Will it be difficult? Yes. Will there be disagreements? Of course. I only hope that through investigating these divisive areas we will be able to find common ground above all of our differences and I truly believe that with time we will.

More importantly, I am hoping that this site inspires action. I hope that this forum will allow those in the Church and those outside the Church a place to work together to help those who need it most. There is nothing more Christian; there is nothing more human than loving one another.

It is time that we take back our faith. Time that we say that Christianity is more than politics, more than individuals, more than faith alone, more than works alone, more than individuals. Time that we rise above our differences and loudly declare that Christianity is More!
